• Enrolling in the appropriate Summer Session classes can help you progress faster toward your degree. If you're considering Summer Session enrollment, consult with your academic and/or departmental advisors regarding Summer Session course selection.

Continuing Students:

• Financial aid is available to current UC San Diego undergraduate students who have a valid 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application on file, have financial need, and are enrolled at least half time or six units.
  • "Need" is the difference between the UC San Diego cost of attendance (your estimated costs) and your expected family contribution, as determined by your FAFSA or DREAM application).
  • Please note that those without "Need" that received Direct Loans during the year and will receive a loan only award offer for their remaining eligibility. Those that did not opt to borrow during the year but would like to for summer may contact our office to request an aid offer.
  • Waitlisted units do not count.
  • This can be any combination of Summer Sessions at UC San Diego or at another UC.
  • 12 units are required to receive full-time aid.
  • Enroll in Summer Session classes at the earliest opportunity for possible priority funding (if eligible).
  • Fall 2024 readmitted students are not eligible for Federal, State, or Institutional financial aid for summer 2024.
  • Students that graduated or were Academically Dismissed as of the end of the Spring 2024 term are ineligible for summer 2024 aid.
  • If you are academically disqualified at the end of spring quarter, you will not be permitted to remain enrolled in Summer Session. Please contact your college academic advising office for questions related to your disqualification.

  Pre-Matriculated Students:

  • Newly admitted students who will matriculate (attend) in the Fall 2024 term may be eligible for financial aid. These newly admitted students who attend in the Summer Session, taking courses recommended by their advisor, are referred to as "pre-matriculated" students during Summer Session.
  • Pre-matriculated students (admitted to the Fall 2024 Quarter), who enroll in a minimum of 6 units of Summer Session academic credit at UC San Diego, should follow the directions for submitting a 2023-2024 FAFSA for US citizens or Eligible Permanent Residents. Eligible AB540 students who are not eligible to submit a FAFSA should submit a 2023-2024 California Dream Act Application. Use UC San Diego's school code of 001317 on the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application. Please note that the submission of supplemental documents may be required before the processing of your aid offer. Please note the application deadline is 06/30/2024.
  • Financial aid offers are available to those with a completed 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application on file, have financial need, and are enrolled at least half time or six units.
    • Please note that those without financial need may contact our office to request a review of a loan only summer aid offer.

    International Students:

    • Please note that international students are not eligible for Federal or State aid and are not eligible to submit a FAFSA or California Dream Act Application.
